About: ESSI is a project co-funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund). The project aims to develop new intelligent solutions for accessibility in sustainable living. The project's target group is the Päijät-Häme region manufacturing and ICT industry.
Personal area of responsibility:
Lighting and tempature
Creating an accessible and intuitive solution for managing lighting and temperature with a smart home tablet
Solutions:
Buttons to quickly switch between rooms.
Simple buttons work as digital light switches.
Temperature and brightness can be adjusted by pressing the +/- buttons which are easier to use for people with motor challenges.
Slider controls are functional but they also work to visualize the changes in temperature and brightness.
Light hue switches have large target areas that are easy to press. The colours are preset to minimize user’s cognitive load.
User can add a new lamp by connecting it via bluetooth.
