About: ESSI is a project co-funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund). The project aims to develop new intelligent solutions for accessibility in sustainable living. The project's target group is the Päijät-Häme region manufacturing and ICT industry.

Personal area of responsibility:

Lighting and tempature

Creating an accessible and intuitive solution for managing lighting and temperature with a smart home tablet

Solutions:

  • Buttons to quickly switch between rooms.

  • Simple buttons work as digital light switches.

  • Temperature and brightness can be adjusted by pressing the +/- buttons which are easier to use for people with motor challenges.

  • Slider controls are functional but they also work to visualize the changes in temperature and brightness.

  • Light hue switches have large target areas that are easy to press. The colours are preset to minimize user’s cognitive load.

  • User can add a new lamp by connecting it via bluetooth.
